How QuickSeq collects, uses, shares, stores and protects your personal information — including sensitive genomic data.
This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, how QuickSeq (“QuickSeq”, “we”, “us”) collects and handles personal information collected through our website quickseq.bio and our customer portal. We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law, 5741‑1981 (including Amendment 13, in force from 2025), the Protection of Privacy Regulations (Data Security), 5777‑2017, and — for genetic information — the Genetic Information Law, 5761‑2000. Where applicable, we also comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and comparable regulations.
In short: we collect only what we need to serve you — a quote request, an account, and managing your project; we keep it secure; we never sell it; and we share it only with the sequencing provider that actually carries out your project. Genetic data gets special, extra‑careful handling. You can access, correct or delete your data at any time — just email us.
QuickSeq is an Israeli sequencing marketplace and advisory service. We help researchers and organizations plan next-generation sequencing (NGS), Sanger sequencing and bioinformatics projects, and we match them with suitable sequencing providers and laboratories who carry out the work. For privacy matters you can reach us at info@quickseq.bio.
Where a project proceeds, we and/or the matched provider may handle biological samples and the resulting sequencing data and bioinformatics reports. See Section 6 for how we treat this sensitive data.
Providing your information is voluntary. You are not legally required to give us your information, but without the information we need we cannot provide the service you request. Under the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law we collect and use your information based on your consent and for the purposes for which it was provided (preparing quotes, managing your project and running your account), and we inform you of this both in this policy and at the point of collection.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: consent (which you may withdraw at any time, e.g. for feedback or marketing); performance of a contract (to provide the services you request); legitimate interests (to operate, secure and improve our service); and legal obligation. For sensitive (special-category) genetic data we rely on your explicit consent and/or other lawful bases under Article 9 GDPR.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to deliver the service:
Genetic and health-related data is especially sensitive. Under the Genetic Information Law, 5761‑2000, and under Amendment 13 to the Protection of Privacy Law — which classifies genetic data as “information of special sensitivity” — such data requires a higher standard of protection, confidentiality and consent (and is a “special category” under the GDPR). Accordingly, any database holding such data is managed by us at the high security level defined in the Data Security Regulations.
Where your project involves human genomic or other potentially identifying biological data, we apply additional safeguards:
You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights, consents and ethical/IRB approvals to submit any human or third-party biological material and data to us — including, where relevant, the informed consent required under the Genetic Information Law, 5761‑2000 to carry out genetic testing and to use genetic information. In line with that Law, we keep genetic information confidential and do not use it for discrimination or for any purpose other than your project.
We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including: HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit and HSTS; salted, hashed password storage; session tokens with expiry; access controls and an authenticated admin area; and reputable, access-controlled hosting. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work continuously to protect your data.
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes above: account data for as long as your account is active; quote and project records for the period needed to provide and support the service and to meet legal/accounting obligations; and genomic/project data only for as long as required to deliver the project, after which it is deleted or returned on request. You may ask us to delete your data at any time (see below).
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to: access the information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; delete your information (“right to be forgotten”); restrict or object to certain processing; port your data; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email info@quickseq.bio and we will respond within the timeframe required by law. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (in Israel, the Privacy Protection Authority).
Direct marketing: if you receive marketing messages from us, you can ask to be removed from our mailing list at any time — free of charge, via the link in the message or by contacting us — in line with the direct-mailing provisions of the Protection of Privacy Law and the Communications (Telecommunications and Broadcasting) Law.
QuickSeq operates from Israel and uses service providers that may store or process data outside your country, including in the EU and the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure an adequate level of protection (for example, providers’ standard contractual clauses and adequacy mechanisms).
We use only what is necessary to run the site. Specifically: essential local storage to keep you signed in to the portal, and — only if you choose “Continue with Google” — cookies set by Google to provide that sign-in. We do not use analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can clear local storage and cookies from your browser settings at any time; doing so will sign you out.
We maintain procedures to detect, investigate and respond to security incidents. If a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify the relevant authorities and affected individuals where and as required by applicable law.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new “Last updated” date, and where changes are material we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
For any privacy question or request — including to access, correct or delete your information — contact QuickSeq’s Privacy Officer at info@quickseq.bio. We will respond promptly and in any event within the timeframe set by law. QuickSeq, Israel.
